Olivia "Makayla" Sanders

Olivia “Makayla” Sanders is an attorney with Hayes Law Firm, PLLC, where she brings a strong academic background and hands-on experience within both prosecution and criminal defense settings.

Makayla earned her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mississippi in 2023 before attending the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. During law school, she distinguished herself academically, graduating 10th in her class and serving on the Law Review. She also earned a Certificate in Advocacy, further developing her skills in legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy.

While completing her legal education, Makayla gained practical experience through internships with both the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office. She joined Hayes Law Firm in February 2026, working part-time with the firm while finishing law school and preparing to begin her career as an attorney.

Makayla was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in October 2026 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi. Now serving as a full-time attorney with Hayes Law Firm, she draws on the foundation she developed through her academic, prosecutorial, and law firm experience to advocate for the firm’s clients.

Outside of the office, Makayla is an animal lover who enjoys crocheting and spending time at home with her dog and two cats.
